The Anaheim Ducks have re-signed forward Rickard Rakell to a 6-year contract extension worth $22.8MM. Rakell is coming off of a solid season with Anaheim, racking up 43 points in his first 20 goal season of his career.
Rakell and the Ducks were not on common ground on a new contract in the offseason, as Rakell was an RFA seeking a new contract from the team. With this deal, both sides have finally come down to an agreement after weeks of negotiations.
The latest hurdle however, is that the Ducks have filed a petition to get him out of Sweden on a work visa, which could take up to 2 weeks before he can even come back to the US, according to FOX Sports.
Now that Rakell has been re-signed, the team still has one more prominent player to re-sign in defenseman Hampus Lindholm, who has yet to come to terms on a new contract.
